Caveat Employer: Did you know you now need a Dun & Bradstreet number? That is what USCIS is requiring.
As an employer filing for a foreign worker you may have received a Request for Evidence (RFE) based upon USCIS’s new fraud detection tool, the web-based Validation Instrument for Business Enterprises, or VIBE. Currently USCIS is using Dun & Bradstreet to validate employer information.
Although USCIS is saying that it won’t deny a petition if it finds “contradictory or derogatory” information about the company in Dun and Bradstreet, (ie. no information at all), without a chance to respond to an RFE, the employer is still required to respond to the RFE with information requested.
It looks to us as though USCIS is now requiring a Dun & Bradstreet number for all employers. Beware if you sign up. Dun & Bradstreet is a commercial service. It is going to try to sell you all kinds of products. Just get a number if you want to avoid an RFE.
